Seniors' Week

Seniors' Week History

An evaluation project was initiated by the Council on
Aging to access the effectiveness of Seniors' Week in promoting the dignity, health and independence of
older adults.  Funding for this project was provided by Health Canada under the Population Health Fund.  Findings concluded that Seniors' Week was quite
successful in meeting most
of the stated objectives.

A full evaluation report is housed in the Council's library.  Early in 2005, an additional evaluation was completed
on the usefulness of the promotional materials sent to seniors groups in the province, advertising and
encouraging these groups to host events.  A copy of this report is also housed at the Council's library.

A more in-depth evaluation had been conducted of
Seniors' Week again which started in the Fall of 2005
and completed in April 2006 with funding from Health Canada, Population Health Fund.  A copy of this report
is available at the Council's library.  At the end of the
Seniors Week Project a How to Plan A Senior's Week
Event booklet was created and it will be distributed by Saskatchewan Health.
